A good place to work on this question would be the library databases.

  • Go to the eResources page on our website at https://huntertafe.libguides.com/eresources.
  • Select a database using the A-Z navigation bar. 2 useful general databases with Australian information are:
    • E = EBSCO
    • P = Proquest Central
  • When selecting EBSCO, select some sub-databases - choose Academic Search Complete, Australia/New Zealand Centre Plus, eBook Collection - then click Continue.

  • You will get a search screen - enter your search terms (see below for ideas) and click Search.

  • You can now limit your results further - left hand column on screen.
Choose Full Text, also choose Geography (+show more to see full list of locations) and choose Australian places if you want to keep results to an Australian focus.  You can also limit by material type if you want to.

  • For Proquest Central - similar process - Geography is called Location in this databases limiting features.

Try the following keywords:

music local venues

music festivals AND marketing

music festivals AND economic

music venues AND declilne

live music venues decline

  • You can also search by subject headings that appear in relevant search results.
Have a look at the database record for articles that look relevant - you will see subject headings which are clickable.

  • You can also try searching Google Scholar and using similar terms above.
Refer to the Research Help LibGuide for ideas on using Google Scholar at:https://huntertafe.libguides.com/research/googlescholar

If you would like to come in and spend some time with a librarian working further on search skills please don't hesitate to ring and book a time at your local TAFE Library.
Check the Library Locations list for phone numbers  to book a time.
